Don’t miss the Bethany 66 Festival next Saturday, May 26 in downtown Bethany, Okla. The Festival truly has something for everyone including a car, truck and motorcycle show, a children’s parade, arts and crafts booths, food trucks, downtown Bethany merchants and local Bethany restaurants.
Festival events are held in downtown Bethany on historic Route 66, also known as 39th Expressway. Festival events are in held in a one-block area from 38th Street north to 39th Expressway, between Peniel and Asbury from 10 am to 4 pm.
Kids of all ages dress can dress as action or super heroes and princesses for the parade. For safety, the walking parade route is on sidewalks and blocked streets. The children’s parade begins at 11 am at 39th Expressway and College Avenue. Adults should accompany children under age 10 and no adult can be responsible for more than five children under age 10. Festival attendees are encouraged clap and cheer for the children, or join the parade.
A full day of entertainment is planned in an open-air tent near the food trucks. Highland Mist will play from 10-10:45 am. Larry Whaley will follow from 11-11:45 am. A local favorite, the PC West High School Color Guard, presents a patriotic celebration from 11:55 am-12:15 pm. The Kent Fauss Duo plays 12:30-1:15 pm; Marco Tello and Jeff Nokes of the Brave Amigos will be on stage performing 1:30-2:15 pm. Bethany’s own Grammy Award-nominee, Sherman Andrus, will sing from 2:30-3:15 pm.
Vintage treasure finders, artisans, crafters, boutique owners, and artists will find new, handmade, repurposed or refurbished items in the arts and crafts booths in the Festival. Other booth operators will feature multi-level inventory and services. And, don’t miss the brick and mortar stores and restaurants in downtown Bethany.
